RCSS is a founding member of the Consortium of Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies in Asia (NTS-Asia), based in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. RCSS is represented in 2019 annual meeting, themed “Bringing Back Multilateral Cooperation in NTS Governance.” The meeting cum conference was held on 25-26 March 2019, in Singapore with the participation from consortium members. RCSS Programme Officer, Ms. Ayodhya Krishani participated on behalf of RCSS at the meeting.

The conference focused on the following key areas: 1. Migration, Human Trafficking and Diasporas in the Indo-Pacific; 2. Economic Inequality and Inclusiveness; 3. Digitalization and Countering Security Threats; 4. Climate Change, Environment and Sustainable Development; and 5. Identity Politics, Pluralism and Cohesive Societies.

The conference brought to the notice of the countries in the region who are keen on finding common ground on NTS issues, the need to explore the possibilities of advanced future cooperation between regional associations such as ASEAN, European Union and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

The NTS-Asia Consortium is a network of 31 research institutes and think tanks across Asia that works on a wide range of non-traditional security issues.
