Discussion on Japan-Sri Lanka Relations and South Asian Geopolitics

An insightful discussion on “Japan-Sri Lanka relations and South Asian geopolitics” was convened by the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies (RCSS) on 28 January 2016 at the RCSS premises. Mr. Ichiro Abe, Special Advisor to the Ministry’s Secretariat, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan made opening remarks on the Japanese Government’s East Asian Policy, as well as Sri Lanka–Japan and India–Japan cooperation. These were followed by an open discussion, where the importance of furthering Japan-Sri Lanka relations was highlighted and ways forward were discussed.

Mr. Abe is an expert of industrial policy, trade policy, energy policy and is in charge of investment promotion as well as economic diplomacy, specifically for South Asia.
